160 pages of sheer mouth-dribbling temptations that
would have any foodie waxing lyrical. The illustrations by Tony le
Due are exceptional and the picture of the 'Demoiselles de
Pondicherry' ( scallops in saffron sauce) almost had me in the car
on my way to the restaurant in Marble Arch.
This restaurant has been in the best in Britain ( BIBA) top list
since it opened, which is no mean achievement, though for some
unknown reason, it does not seem to receive the publicity and
accolades it deserves from some critics. Mehernosh is one of the
best Indian chefs in the country and wife Sherin, also an excellent
chef, is an award-winning front of house organiser and an
irreplaceable senior management figure. This book is certainly not
an exercise in ego-boosting as seemingly every chef in Mehernosh 's
brigade receives acknowledgement for his speciality resulting in a
book well worth not only reading but keeping on the shelf for a
regular dip into. |
